-a good leather handbag
-a hard-case clutch for evenings
While my friends wish to spend their first paychecks on a chanel 2.55, I covet a Lanvin '06 or '07. But it's extremely, extremely rare. I haven't seen it anywhere at all... not even eBay ): that just says something about how much women love their Lanvins. I think for me, 06/07 were generally vintage years for bags.
Practicality rules in my books, and I think Balenciagas are very functional. Double handles are a requirement. I like slinging bags over my shoulder so the short handles must be just long enough, in case I also feel like hanging it from my elbow. But I also need a shoulder strap so that I can be hands free. This rocks for travelling when you need to check maps.
Exclusivity doesn't rank highly on my list so it doesn't matter that Balenciagas very common. However, I have a problem differentiating the bags since some are fairly similar.
I've currently settled for the motorcycle first or city. Does it matter if I don't say 'motorcycle'? How confusing. Pardon my noobiness please. I found 2 gorgeous bags in pretty colours on eBay: pale rose pink and vert d'eau. Very beautiful, in exquisite chevre! I would snap up these babies but for the moolah not being in existence.
Of course, they also look lust-worthy in basic colours such as black, navy blue and dark grey. But I feel it is their spectrum of colours that makes them unique, no?
But it bugs me: I find it somewhat absurd to pay so much. Be it inflation or that they've jacked up prices to give people the impression that it is 'up there'. I mean, sure it's beautiful craftsmanship and fine materials but the cost really isn't all that high. What we're really paying for is the brand and supposed 'exclusivity'. I can't even believe the prices they're going for at resale. Pre-loved bags on e-bay—not exactly in pristine condition, mind you—are still fetching/demanding well over USD 1k.
In Mother's time, Balenciaga and Lanvin were apparently not coveted and pretty affordable at several hundred bucks. Unfortunately, she didn't appreciate anything and gave her unwanted Celines, Lanvins etc. to her sister instead of saving them for herself (or me!!!). Aye!
Lately, I've been noticing more LV monogram bags around school. Hmmm. How obnoxious?
Pooh-pooh/Woohoo,
