So I'm back from Hong Kong and it was a really wonderful trip with the awesomest company. To sum it up in no order of preference: swanky apartment near the Peak, people opening doors for you, dim sum with mind-blowing "Malay Cake" and Phoenix Claws (literal translations), sales, falling in love with Dries amongst other designers, parading around tne store in MMM pumps (above), discovering my true shoe size, cabbing all over, goose meat, chilled jelly egg tarts, scaling the Peak in the dead of night, con job by the budget airline, meeting new people.
Although the shopping was pretty good, some things I liked were out of this world, this world being my budget. (I wasn't willing to part with so much money... if I even had so much money in the first place.) Found this Balenciaga dress (great print, colours and structure), and also several items of Dries such as skirts and tops and shoes. However, the only thing that really burned some brain cells were the pair of cork pumps above by Maison Martin Margiela. For just 250 SGD, I could have brought them back with me! Oh well, still contemplating them. What say you? Yes? No? Anyway, the outlets were really great and I loved feeling the clothes in my hands. CdG, Yohji Yamamoto and Hussein Chalayan were really kind of cool. Oh yeah, I found a pair of Juicy 4-quarter jeans for just 87 SGD (they end a wee bit short with gold buttons detailing so no need for alteration, woohoo) which ends my hunt for an elusive pair of white denims. The hunt for the perfect white blazer continues, even though I found a very classy, well-fitting one at Esprit for around 90 SGD. Ouch (not really), but nice. Thinking about it too.

Bought quite a bit of stuff from Uniqlo (ONLY LIKE MY FAVOURITE STORE EVER) collaboration items including: a white romper (above and here), flower print shirt (here, scroll a bit), grey/silver cowl dress (unanimously named best buy of the trip by the travelling companions), black satin shirt, 8 SGD T-shirts (size M, for a slight oversized feel), the perfect black shorts. My brother bought 7 pairs of socks for about 2 SGD each. He loves them!
H&M had a good selection of affordable shoes but I couldn't fit any of the 36s. Really quite bizarre. They also had nice clothes that I had me thinking twice if I really needed them. In the end, I bought a long black dress (the only item I bought which wasn't on sale, but was the perfect length) and a couple of ubiquitous summer tanks (loose fit top and fitted skanky dress) and a vintage-y jacket (LOVE).
All in all, the damage isn't so bad. My girlfriend who went to China bought like a truckload of stuff. 450 SGD goes a much longer way there. I cannot fathom the quantity!
Would like to explore Hong Kong more though, especially the Causeway Bay area. Realised that the Couleurs du Saison for me are neutrals in beiges, browns, nudes and greys, and my closet consists of neutral items of clothing with loose fit. Mix it up, et voila! (:
Dinner plans tonight beckon. I better do my Japanese homework.
