My Deadly Sin

Spent a bomb yesterday! Reduced to eating at home for the next 7 days or so. Only 7 because I have a dinner appointment next week. Gluttony will take its toll on me/my waistline body soon.

Fish Mart Sakuraya was amazing! Between the 2 of us, we ate about 75 SGD worth of sashimi. Sea urchin by the urchin (about 25 SGD), salmon belly (about 13), swordfish (about 12), scallop (about 8) and yari squid (about 14) and then you gotta add tax. Anyway, it was pretty darn good! Scallop and swordfish tied for first and then came squid. I also had a bowl of soba (8 for a decent serving, or you can get udon !!! for the same price) and the grilled spicy salmon belly (6). The salmon belly was my friend's favourite and I know why. It tastes really good. The grill really brings out the flavour of the salmon, and the juiciness juxtaposed against the crispness of the skin and a little bit of fat (omega-3, yo) is simply delightful. And the heat! The heat is very subtle. It's sneaky. You don't realise it at first but after two seconds, it begins to rise up your head and plays with your mind. It doesn't numb, but it's got kick ;) I think I'll probably head back there sometime soon for some divine sashimi. Not to mention, they have a Japanese minimart adjoining.

Dropped by Kinokuniya to pick up Good Omens (YAY) and another book whose title eludes me now. Wandered around shopping only to be disappointed for the umpteenth time by the dismal stock in Singapore. Then we had a banana split for tea at Olio Dome Cafe, so-so.

Caught Transformers which ended just in time for dinner. Read as: catching the weekend student/office workers orchard crowd, so we ended up eating at the Takashimaya basement food court at a stall called Ambush. They serve paella, which is pretty hard to find, but I didn't think much of it. Too wet!

Adjourned to Dempsey's PS Cafe where we sipped tea and munched on the Truffle Shoestring Fries. For 15 SGD, you get a mountain of tasty crispy fries (drizzled with truffle oil, topped off with parmesan). And when I say it's big, I mean it's pretty damn huge! 2 of us ate the same amount as 4 people at the adjacent table (and they couldn't finish it either). Saw an acquaintance but she didn't recognise me. Hur. The place was a little too noisy for my liking, but the menu looked tantalising. I had a good mind to order something savoury and then a dessert but I really would've exploded.

A really chill day, in all. Wore my Uniqlo with Shipley and Halmos black shorts with a tucked in dirty pink T-shirt (Uniqlo too) and my favourite-but-dirty-thanks-to-Hong-Kong Fabio Rusconi flats. Didn't bother transferring my stuff out of the Gucci clutch. Heh. Too much trouble too early in the day. Had a good mind to wear heels though, but practicality won in the end.

And because I feel guilty for spamming with words:

Maybe I'll break out the romper or the skanky tank dress tonight :D Duplicity sounds good!

A special birthday shoutout to a friend, because you read this... sometimes. Happy 24th (:

XOXO
