Happy Vesak Day 2010

Still feeling rather sore about the publication and postage, but just glad that the week's over. Spent most of it reading the soft copies I have of Percy Jackson--finally finished the less than satisfying series--and sleeping.

Dragged my ass out for dinner and drinks on Wednesday. Had a good time, ok food (Chomp Chomp: mango shaved ice, prawn noodles, chicken wings, carrot cake, various flavoured egg beancurds) and lots of sugar cane juice, with and without lemon.. Paid cab home, though, which was ouch. Thankfully no peak hour, so it cost SGD 12. Shouldn't have been so lazy to drive. Hur.

Finally had Ippudo on Thursday, which was surprisingly better than the last time.. Really enjoyed the seasonal ramen (SGD 17++)--Kyushu miso tonkotsu 2010--"Ippudo original pork broth with blended miso, mild in taste with cabbage, Japanese leek, spring onion, pork belly, pork loin and flavoured half egg". Yum! I ordered my noodles regular, while brother preferred his hard. We also tried the buta sparerib no pirikarani--spicy braised spare ribs with Japanese soy sauce--which was not bad; and some chicken wings or something, which came on a bed of crispy noodles, and was also quite tasty. For dessert, we ordered brother's favourite rare cheesecake (SGD 7++) and this time we tried the gateau chocolate (SGD 7++). Much prefer the cheesecake (: but the gateau is really quite cocoa-y and dense, more like fudge than cake. Hehe. Service staff were hot attentive, as usual (;

Popped by Isetan's private sale and picked up a Deuter backpack (around SGD 49) and brother got an Adidas tee (about SGD 26). Sooo many things on sale that I didn't get to see ): and I also missed out on my private sale at Ferragamo at Ion. Adjourned to TCC at Marina at Keppel Bay for drinks. Brother had an apple citruz freeze which he complained tasted like cough syrup. I concur that it doesn't taste that good, although it isn't as bad as cough syrup. Brother's friend had a minty pomegranate freeze, he didn't complain and I didn't try. I had an oreo milkshake :D it was quite nice, but I wish it were more cookie-y. The menu was slightly different--less choices than usual--and the place had rather limited seating. Ambience at night also wasn't that great, but brother's friend told us that it was much nicer in the day because you could look out and see the water and yachts and walk around the park outside. I forget the prices, but I think they average about SGD 7 or 8 per drink, inclusive of additional charges.

One week into the French Open and it's clear that my favourites are doing awesome (: really annoyed that cable isn't showing repeats in the daytime, though. Argh. This weekend has several things lined up, including netball (OMG Iris is actually going to exercise. Quick, buy lottery!) and maybe shopping with Mother. The coming weeks will also see me trying to get out of the house more, hopefully..

Facebook's picture uploader is being horrible and not cooperating. It's frickin' 5am, I would like to sleep ):
