Or further?
The play was surprisingly good, though quite far from excellent. I thought the sets were clever and direction was decent. Not sure if the screenplay is original, but it's excellent. However, the cast lacked chemistry.
For me, Cynthia Lee surpassed expectations; but Tan Kheng Hua left much to be desired (pun not intended); Adrian Pang, the perennial favourite, didn't disappoint; and Keagan Kang did alright. Individually, they were good but somehow it didn't quite work out together. This was a unanimous sentiment from my friends and I, which echoed the review in the Straits Times.
I'm a bit lazy to review the entire thing in great detail--most of the analysing best remain in my head (e.g. themes of solitude, of coincidence, of consequence; and of humans, of love and of wants). But for the student price, definitely worth it. I actually enjoyed it more than the movie, if only because theatre as a medium was a lot cleverer than film.
Now I feel a bit like watching the movie now because I hardly remember anything from it, even with Jude Law and Natalie Portman.... and Clive Owen and Julia Roberts. (Gee. Thanks, IMDb. I didn't even remember them.) I only have this vague impression of Natalie Portman as Alice. One so fleeting, that I even doubt I watched it. To justify my unimpression, I must've only seen a clip/trailer. Pretty sure I did, though--I recall quite clearly watching the movie with friends and short clips on my own.
But no time for such luxury. Hitting the sack now so that I will actually do something tomorrow. Bonne nuit, mes cheries!
