Stuffed

I'm sorry for the lack of images... Makes me wish I were more of a shutterbug/quickdraw artist.

Headed out today to meet one of my BFFs at the Ion - OMG BRIMMING WITH PEOPLE EW - to brave the crowds and check out only-my-favourite-store-ever-which-opened-at-Ion-today and also New Look. Ended up with 3 bags of food and another pair of demure black heels. Smack me please.

Hopefully with the new store open, I can shop in peace at Tampines 1. Really quite the warzone inside. I would also like to check out Orchard Central sometime, but that's virtually impossible.

Anyway, Uniqlo was the same as ever. Not cheap but certainly reasonable..relatively. Wandered around the store in the floppy straw hat that wasn't as wide brimmed as I thought but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Severe restriction of my periphal vision didn't detract from the wonders of the holey hat. Heehee. It's a little big for my head though. Oh and I must say that I'm hopeless with berets : but still, accessories ftw! :D

Topshop had this pair of cute bow+chain skyhigh sandals (below) but I couldn't fit a UK 3/EU 36 and that was the smallest available. Odd though, because I always thought that they brought in up to EU 35. Frowns. Anyway, I also tried on this Petites UK 6 dress in leopard print and it was also too big. I MUST BE SHRINKING. BUT MY STUPID PANTSES AT HOME DON'T FIT ME. Bah. Anyway, Topshop is too trendy/expensive/lousy. While it's nice to look at the colours/prints/designs, they're so not worth the tags.

New Look bordered a little on 'Disappointing'. The clothes were definitely a letdown. I distinctly recall the London store being filled with racks and racks that made me whoop with delight - especially at the sale prices. The accessories though, were a different story. I was quite pleased to find that they had a good selection of simple shoes - colourful pumps, wardrobe staples, plenty of sandals and wedges... in a myriad of heel heights - and also necklaces and earrings. I am proud to announce that they carry sizes from UK 1 (EU 33) upwards - small-feet hobbits rejoice - but cuttings for shoes vary and may run a little large or slightly smallish. The selection is very British - a little trendy but usually not overly so - not unlike those that you find on ASOS, and some of the shoes even come with leather uppers at very affordable prices. Oh and I forget to mention that they have cute undies. Hahaha. You can check them out online here!

My new acquisition from New Look: a pair of faux Mary Janes (they don't actually unbuckle) in black leather with a medium heel and round toes. I tried on the pointy-toed version only to find that I didn't like the profile and that it runs a little large. The round toes were sweeter and looked better from the side, plus they fit snugly. They were pretty comfortable. I wandered around the store in them for about 15 minutes hunting down other shoes. AND they only burnt a smallish hole of SGD 43.90 in my pocket, although I got ripped off because they're only GBP 16 (not counting that New Look has student discount).

I tried the Taiyaki (Carp Biscuits with filling) and Takoyaki (Octopus Balls) today. The Premium Japanese Azuki (Red Bean) was by far better than the Bacon and Egg one. Both cost only SGD 2; other flavours such as French Cinnamon (apple filling) and Banana & Chocolate cost 2.40 and the Italian (tomato filling) and German potato cost 2.60. Well, I was expecting it anyway because I consider red bean the "original" flavour and originals are almost always best. Also, I had it piping hot and fresh from the griddle. The Takoyaki was... maybe somewhat overrated. I ordered Set 1 which had 6pc Takoyaki (usually costs SGD 4.80) and a drink (choice of green tea ice-blended, green tea soy milk, and green tea something) for SGD 6. I took the soy drink and it was pretty bad. It's like they just stirred in some green tea powder. There wasn't much flavour of either the soy or the green tea. Some people might find it revolting because the green tea is pretty strong/bitter. The Takoyakis were very hot inside and out, but the slivers of octopus were barely there. The inside was a little too mushy for my liking and I would've liked less sauce and alot more bonito flakes. Why so stingy! But admittedly the 6 balls are pretty filling. I'm sure 2 people can be satisfied sharing it, although there's a Set for 2 which has 10 pieces and 2 drinks for SGD 9.90 - much better value if you're not going to waste any food/hungry like a horse. I stole some of my friend's Okonomiyaki and it was not bad either. It had alot a generous heap of bonito flakes and a fair amount of mayo. Hehe.

Paid a visit to the Royce store, which looked fairly Chocolate Factory-esque (coughPIRATEScough). Service was pretty amazing and they have samples of all the products you see in the store. If I didn't already have my mouth full chomping on the Takoyaki I would've tried the Macadamia Chocolate - whole macadamias coated in about half a centimetre of chocolate all around? Mmm. They didn't have my favourite mint chocolate mini cubes though. Pity. You can also see them online here but the site's in Japanese.

Service today was pretty enthusiastic all round, and impeccable at Royce and Mintmark & Co. (special mention, yay).

I wore out my DIY tank dress (back to front) with my pseudo jeans leggings, a Dorothy Perkins vest, La Senza jelly thongs and my Longchamp. Felt like a dime a dozen and so uninspired. Ugh. I want to buy more frocks and special clothes but there's absolutely nothing here. Thrifting in the States = heaven, I imagine.

The weekend has begun. I will commence by reading Good Omens.
