At Last

It's been a rough and tumble week+++ for me. Finally, the internet seems to be cooperative enough for me to update.

Yesterday, I headed to the Old Ford Factory.... Didn't really dig it. Felt quite propaganda-ish and reminded me too much of social studies/national education i.e. not value adding. Dead Sea Scrolls - to see or not to see?

Finally also checked out Gastrobar at the Old Firestation - just 5 minutes walk from the museum - along Upper Bukit Timah Road. Ambience was really nice (will update with photos if I can steal them from my friend) but the food was only so-so and a little on the pricey side. Maybe we'll fare better with brunch.

Headed over to Udders - 15 minutes walk away from Gastrobar in good weather, yeah! - where I discovered hair (not mine!) in my dessert after consuming half of it for the second time in 4 days. Bah. I had Earl Grey and Hazel's Nuts and stole some of my friend's Fresh Soursop Sorbet and Champion Cempedak (Jackfruit). I must say that all 4 flavours were not bad. Cempedak was powerpacked, Hazel's Nuts was very chocolatey, Earl Grey was intense but had a tinge of siapness/acidity, and the Fresh Soursop Sorbet was a teeny wee little bit underwhelming, perhaps because the rest of the flavours were pretty strong. I also sampled Choya Lime Umeshu Sorbet (VERY sour) and Gila Melaka (very gula-y with attap seed chunks that could've been slightly bigger). Depends on your preferences, I guess.

Couldn't resist popping by Frutta la Viva - slightly further in than Udders, by maybe 1 minute? - after that, to visit the aunty (: sampled the mango sorbet which is oh so smooooth. Gotta love it.

Carrying on the food thread, I went to Greenwood Fish Market on Friday - haven't been there in a long time - and had trawl of the day. My Ocean Trout was delicious, as was the Norwegian Salmon. Both were pan-seared (: the show stealer, however, was the mashed potato! So cheesy. Yummy!

I want to go to Fish Mart Sakuraya again some time for sashimi. It's about time. Hehehe. Bee-tee-double vee, you can check out reviews of all the above places on hungrygowhere.com.

When it comes to food, I've been satisfied. With respect to love and life, it could definitely be better. WORK AT IT. I wish the US Open weren't so rainy so that the matches can distract me.
