Hi Hopes

I was all stoked about coming in to work today, because I had a good feeling I might find some mildly useful precedent. I'd already found potential related cases that could possibly be what one might call a breakthrough in the "deadlock cycle of research" as the cute lawyer so plainly puts it.

I woke up at around half past 6 this morning and took a shower before stepping into the black and white outfit I had prepared the night before and dumping my belongings and vivid red MNG suit cardigan in my blue Courreges (double checking my phone, don't want a reenactment of board-the-train-gasp-go-home-and-come-out-again). The colours feel a bit Superman like. Hehe. Wore the white version of my yellow short-sleeved Dorothy Perkins fitted shirt and black Zara mid to high-rise wide-legged pants (more of a roomy straight cut, really). Picked out Mother's black Etienne Aigner pumps again for a boring but court-worthy look. I did intend to beg kindly inquire if I may be brought to the hearing too, after all.

Reaching the office about a quarter to 9 after a leisurely breakfast at my favourite noodle stall, I proceeded to go about my daily affairs: rinsing my water bottle and refilling it, cursorily glancing through the newspapers etc. Then I sat down, cool as a cucumber, only to discover to great dismay that I was unable to access the database which had so generously yielded the precious case to me!!!! Ahh!!! Horror of horrors. I logged in repeatedly only to reach the homepage then have my pending search timeout. After about 2 hours of trying and trying again. I finally called up the IT guy (it took 2 tries and a third much later) only to get some unhelpful reply that the website was inaccessible. Gee, how insightful thanks.

As such, I am currently vexed. Was so psyched up about my research because I felt like it was going somewhere and now all this pent up energy is pshh. Dissipated. Pshau! Thankfully, my mentor has found something for me to do after lunch.

Grar, people on peak-hour trains.

Last night I had a birthday treat from a dear friend. We went to Peperoni's (at Greenwood) because her original choice, a Korean table barbecue restaurant (at Cheong Chin Nam), was closed on Tuesdays. Peperoni's is a pizza place that's pretty popular with Caucasians. We had no reservation so we had to dine al fresco i.e. no air-con! But 'twas alright since there wasn't anyone smoking near us for the most part. The server was really helpful, bouncy and cute. And the menu! It said "ice water: :) $150, :( $200" (happy hour and unhappy hour). So cute! By elimination of fruits, we ordered a jug of grapefruit juice to get the ball rolling. We ended up ordering the hugeass XXXL Pizza (21 inches?!!) with 2 toppings: Suprema and Frutti de Mare, and two appetisers of Parma Ham with Melon and the breaded Portobello Mushroom. Everything was delicious! And I think we spent about... 100? or less? Just a wild guess since I didn't see the bill. And it fed 6 girls, out of which, about 3 of us eat like guys. Ahem.

Subsequently adjourned to Udders (Goldhill Plaza) where they ate ice cream. Mao Shan Wang and D24, anyone? They had a ginormous board of flavour suggestions that strongly compelled me to correct the atrocities (choclate, hoegarden, majito magarita...) upon it. But I didn't! Mind over matter. Hehe. My friends said it was very creamy and not bad. I didn't try, since I had a sore throat. Willpower!!

Oh dear, it appears the database has been maxed out (still). C'MON PEOPLE! Iz da freekin summa vaycayshon \:
