Decided long ago to break out my velvet long cheongsam from Elisa and nude Sole Lovers peep-toe pumps for yesterday's lunch. Mother and I were matchy-matchy! Hehe. She has a short one too, but every piece is unique regardless because the orchid designs are hand-painted. Wore my beloved Jane Norman maxi dress and slippers for the remainder of the day. Daddy looked dapper today. He was forced to dress properly (for once!!) because he had to attend the tea ceremony and also was seated at the VIP table (Brother and I were relegated to the adjacent non-VIP table). I liked his checked shirt alot, so when he does clear his closet I think I will go shopping in it :D
Put some powder and concealer yesterday but that was it. No blush, liner, lipstick/gloss. That and my Vaseline lip balm lasted me all day. The Ettusais compact didn't really provide much coverage, but it did even out my skin tone some although I had to apply quite a bit. The Bourjois concealer was wonderful as always, although it didn't dispense properly when I twisted the top. Got some feedback that it didn't look like I was wearing powder, so that's good. I didn't have a major meltdown although my skin did get a bit oily when evening came. Think that's all I'll be wearing to castings. Hopefully I'll get jobs. I would like to ease my mum's burden; cashflow is tight nowadays.
The bride looked truly radiant and beautiful; her gowns were so romantic and dreamy. Her first gown was white with a bejeweled bustier along the sweetheart neckline and down the center. The skirt began at her tiny waist and came down in a v pattern with a long train. The tulle was sparkly and it was super fluffy. Her second gown was a pretty pink shade and had the same style of bustier although the jewels stood out more against the pink. It was even more extravagant, dripping jewels down the center. The bottom half was forgiving from hip onwards (although the bride didn't need it) and it had a simple fishtail effect flaring further out from mid thigh. SUPER PRETTY!!! The groom looked much improved than his normal self too... Ooops. But yeah.
The Kangxi exhibition was pretty cool. We bought the family package since it cost the same: SGD 20 for up to 5 persons. There were many things on display, including Porcelain, bronze, portraits etc. I loved the long scrolls. They always fascinate me and I always scrutinize every detail since I have OCD. Heehee. It's really amazing that the people drawn are so tiny and yet no two are alike. They have different looks and expressions, and the scrolls are truly long!!! Super cool. The china was also very pretty and truly works of great skill to be fashion such a long time ago. Kang Xi was very handsome when he was young. Would sure like to have a portrait like that. Awesome robes. Another portrait made when he was older also contrasted the Italian and Chinese styles. Mmmm (:
Food was alright, nothing spectacular. The Fullerton started out pretty pleasing but failed towards the end. Peach Garden was... disappointing, although the mangoes proved a winner. The cake was from Goodwood but it wasn't as good as I remembered.
Didn't get to watch soccer. Man U had a goal-less draw. Although I'd wished we had scored a handful of goals and won in style, 1 point sealed the deal for us. Now it's just left to Liverpool and Chelsea to battle it out for 2nd.
I don't think I'll be a grid girl this year, they didn't even call me up for auditions (jinxed tagline, much?) and I'm pretty sure they're over by now. Stumbled upon a wall-to-wall that said "how did the audition for GG go...". Really sad now ): no news is not good news.
Back to work tomorrow, hope I won't get the Monday Blues.
