Photos from here.
Although it's dress down friday, I'm still wearing semi-work wear. Wanted to wear jeans but it was too hot! Shorts and spagh tops not allowed. So, I'm wearing a cream Miss Selfridge just-above-knee-length frock with flat black lace down the center of the chest, a short row of black buttons and a black ribbon around the waist. Slipped on my black peep-toe Dorothy Perkins leather flats and ran out the door this morning. It's been a tiring week in heels! I do not love the shoes I'm wearing today though, they still hurt after like a million wears. Scratchy backs! Got to go buy the gel pads to stick on.
Before shopping, we went to eat (hunger hunger!) dinner at Nanbantei at Far East Plaza. It's a yakitori restaurant from Tokyo. VERY OISHII. Goodness. We began with a starter of vegetables to be dipped in a miso condiment. So yum! Usually the sauce is too salty or bland but this was just right. Spicy, salty, savoury. After that, we had the Grilled Saba Shio and the Pork (Bacon?)-Wrapped Asparagus. These were two of the better dishes last night. The saba skin was crisped to perfection with a little of the very rare burnt taste that enhances flavours. The flesh was tender with plenty of fish oil still. The asparagus burst in your mouth when you bit into it. Crazily delicious hot, the tasty juices spill over your tongue, flooding your mouth with the most amazing flavours. I would never have believed that asparagus could taste so good!!!! The meal continued on a pleasing roll with Tsukune (chicken meatballs with great texture and the right mix of ingredients that Brother raved about), lamb skewers and shishamo. The highlight of the night though, was the beef. It was grilled on a bone, just cooked through like everything else. The end that wasn't cooked was pink, not brown/dark red. But though it was well-done, albeit barely, it wasn't tough at all. Very juicy, tender, beefy, awesome... Everything was grilled to absolute perfection! The best part? The meats were grilled only with salt, nothing else. I'm a purist when it comes to food. Oh yes, Brother also ate Cha Soba for carbs... I wasn't feeling well so I couldn't down any. Kudos to the Japanese chef for his amazing skill. A note though, you should reserve a table if you don't like sitting at the counter. It's pretty popular with a fair amount of regulars even on a weekday night. Also, the place is frequented by Japanese. Though I didn't see the bill, I can guess that it isn't cheap. But definitely satisfying. I would say that it is probably worth it.
On shopping, there was this ridiculous skirt I found at Agnes B. with a vivid pretty purple irises print on it. By ridiculous, I do mean ridiculously priced! I would have tried it on but for the lack of size. Trying is free after all, hurhur. My brother fell in love with their accessories too (I am infecting everyone in my family with my likes) :D I like the swallows bracelet and necklace... SO cute. Saw many "fabulous" men's shirts while shopping with Brother, heehee. For myself, we didn't find anything nice yesterday. Found an plain white shirt at Anne Klein but it had sleeves intended for gorillas! And I refuse to alter anything, it's against my religion. The fabric was pretty ok and it was cheap-ish, SGD 68 after 80%+10% off. Ended up buying a hardly-discounted, boring Polo Ralph plain white non-fitting workshirt. I liked the pink stripey one too. But the white fitted one I really liked was tooooo overpriced. Also, they had these beautifully washed very light-blue to white, wide legged/bell-bottomy feel high-waisted jeans. Hehe. So fun. Undergarments were exorbitant and also out of stock. Sad. Hope John Little has more stuff, and I can find my member's card ! The Robinsons sale is now on, btw.
The weekend is here and there's still a ton of stuff to do like Japanese homework. Not going for the 21st tonight as I'm still not feeling up to it. But I am sharing a present for the birthday boy, so. Yeah. I'm supabroke. Finally paid up for my half of the Mothers' Day lunch treat. Ouch. Well, I don't think I'm going back there for a long time.
I had some work to do this morning. Lunch date was quite alright (: and I might be going to HK end June!
Toodles,
xx
