The Blower's Daughter

Zee Avi yesterday wasn't bad, but I still feel a little underwhelmed. Her voice is nice and all--infinitesimally better in person--it's just that her performance wasn't value-adding. Didn't help that Stereolab wasn't an ideal venue and they let us in late. (I heard from a friend that the non-ticket queue moved faster than the ticket queue. Ridiculous!) Watching from the back was... zzz. She turned around, in the end, during her encore, but only to throw the towel to the crowd behind her i.e. not us. Missed some songs, but caught: Bitter Heart, Honey Bee, Kantoi, Just You and Me, First of the Gang to Die and a couple of covers. I guess seeing her super up close twice made up for it. My friend managed to get autographs and merchandise (we were reeaaallly lucky) but I was just too lazy. She was cute and all, though. Real petite! Mmm.

Satisfied my Tonkichi craving at long last. Shared a hire rosu set, so it was pretty cheap. Omnomnom. The Takashimaya outlet beats the Suntec one anyday in terms of ambience, food and service. All my friends were owned by it and its free flow vege. Hehehe. I know my food yo. Me so fussy :D

Speaking of food, Mirabelle Patisserie has good croissants. I especially like the ham and cheese croissant (SGD 1.80) which is just the right saltiness from the ham and cheese. It's really big, crisp, fluffy and awesomely savoury, so it's great value. MMMM. Also managed to try the plain/butter croissants which were not bad, but I liked the chocolate. They also have buns, but I don't particularly fancy them. There was a yam one which wasn't very yam-y or nice.

Spent the whole of today sleeping--instead of: reading Open, doing work, drafting cover letters and my CV, watch-shopping--because the weather was simply sublime. I actually felt cold sitting at home watching Indian Wells dozing off this afternoon. Had dinner at Gyu-Kaku, at Holland V. Ambience was good. Service, too, as before. Food was good as well. Used my $20 voucher (no minimum spend! :) from the last time. Hehe. Dinner became pretty cheap after that! Before discount it was just under SGD 50. Teeheehee. But we didn't order much today. Just a beef karubi and rosu (tare marinade), pork karubi, Korean seafood pancake and butter potatoes. Not too bad. Potatoes were very soft, quite buttery, a little burnt-crispy.. The meats were tasty, so the premium for wagyu etc. isn't worth it (it's cheaper to buy it yourself). The seafood pancake was ok also, but I'm not a fan. The carb dishes were all too expensive though. Managed to grab my avocado ice cream from Daily Scoop, too (: but I still ended up having a second dinner (Adam Road mutton soup + cheng tng = yum) afterwards. The worst part is I didn't even play tennis because the lesson was only an hour today, so I let my brother have all of it.

Oh, oh. I stumbled upon a not-bad Japanese resto where, by some uncanny coincidence, the chef is in the same unit as my brother. Hahaha. Observant me noted that there was a sign saying the restaurant would be closed because the chef had reservist. I jokingly said maybe it was the same ICT... and it turned out to be true. They both go in on Monday. LoL.

Braise this Thursday. I can't wait! Although, I would really much rather go for class--I've been paying attention lately, you see. And it's been pretty fruitful. Oh well. Skype date too (my friend missed last week). I can't wait for Thursday!!! Lunch + Skype + French. Whee!

Hope tomorrow will be a good(and productive) day. I can't access my school e-mail right now. Sooo annoying.

So many random cravings--what's new, right???--I've been having. Woke up strongly craving donuts this morning, then I proceeded to crave other strange things like nachos and cheese.. I have been craving cheese for a while now, and nothing--no matter what cheese I eat--seems to satisfy it. I don't know, man. And I still crave Relish (my lunch date fell through) inter alia. Newer cravings include Mykii's lazy brunch and Taste Paradise dimsum lunch.

Anthropology is still having a sale... and I still haven't gone.. Hahah.

xoxo
