Les Cantines

Realised that I haven't covered any of the food in KR yet.. I've tried quite a number of places already, thanks to my wonderful friend and unofficial campus tour guide (; teeheehee.

The Deck (Arts):
Yong Tau Foo gets my vote. Don't really like the laksa, it's too sweet. Rice is served large and it's cheap at $1.80 upwards.

Techno Edge (Engine):
Ayam Panggan wins hands down, but Nasi Padang is not bad either. They also have pearly soya milk, which is pretty cheap and unsweetened. The beancurd is good, too. Mmm.

The Terrace (Business):
Western > Middle Eastern, both not that bad. I noticed that the economical rice had a really long queue, but later discovered that it's really horrible. Not my favourite canteen but I realise a lot of the older working people eat there.. Ran into my brother's friend there!

Frontier (Science):
Western nomnom. Cheap pasta ftw! Monstrous servings Pretty decent portions, though I think the pasta may have been a little dry or overcooked. Aglio olio is your best bet. The carbonara isn't creamy, just eggy and a little cheesy; and creamy pasta isn't creamy either, more like canned mushroom soup slopped on. I prefer their chicken to fish. The ban mian and mee hoon kueh aren't very nice, but they're ok. Can be considered filling if you're a girl. LoL.

The air-conditioned places aren't too bad either, though they're more expensive..

Olive Cove (Engine) has nice maple pandan waffle, though the entire place is really noisy and smelly.

Outlets @ Level 2 of The Deck (Arts) has a good variety of stores including BK, Olio and Lerk Thai. Set lunches are pretty value-for-money.

Grinning Gecko (Central Forum) is alright. I had a drink there (some chocolate and mint item) which looked bad but tasted ok. LoL.

Megabites (Science) is supposedly not bad either. I've yet to try.

On the whole, I quite like eating at The Deck and Techno Edge--The Deck is more comfortable because it's breezy and I can people watch, but Techno Edge has tastier food. The Deck edges ahead for the win because it's sliiiightly cheaper and has a little more variety and air conditioned comfort in close proximity.

Food aside, I still love BTC and cling on to my anti-KR sentiment. Hurhur.
