If Only For A While

Wanted to go swimming so I packed up and headed out of the house around 3+ for my aunt's condo.. Read the June issue of Vogue by the poolside, which I think is great; the best issue I've seen so far, though I don't buy it often. So many looks that I like! Especially the summery, simple clothes and overall clean aesthetic especially for the face. The Covergirl cosmetics ads look very alluring. Hehehe.

Then, the pool got invaded by numerous annoying shrieking children varying from adolescents to toddlers and I gave up the notion of actually getting into the (possibly pee-laden by now) pool. Was rather intrigued by how American culture pervaded the magazine with, inter alia, an interesting article on surrogacy and also disclaimers in advertisements e.g. "WARNING: This product can cause gum disease and tooth loss." (Reynolds Tobacco Co.) and "Lash inserts were applied to add lash count to Drew's lashes before applying LashBlast Fusion mascara." (Covergirl). Quite amusing.. I think advertisements are insightful in other ways as well.

Found myself attracted to a lovely Cole Haan reversible bag (Daisy tote) in the mag, together with a whole bunch of other things. Bad, bad, bad. Sigh. And most of the things cannot be found heeeeeeeere )))): (Can you hear the anguish?) Not necessarily a bad thing, since then I won't be able to splurge. All the cosmetics remind me of the ones that I can actually buy here too, like the Lancome juicy tubes limited edition/flavours and the Clinique foundations that I want to try. But I know that I should refrain because I can't even finish using what little I have!

Blake Lively's feature sort of made me wish soooo badly that I could go surfing. And she looks so pretty and stylish without being the slightest bit irritating/skanky like she usually does.. Guess it's really the surfer-sunshiney vibe that suits her. Mmmm.

Caught the first World Cup match instead of boycotting as originally planned.. It was horrible and zzzboring. Poor refereeing and slow game pace with few shots on target and plenty of missed opportunities. Ugh. Talk about frustrating! And the droning sound of the horns, like a swarm of flies. Company was good, though. Always the company, eh? Oh, and the homecooked food. Always the food, eh? Some things never change. Hahaha.

Brought drinks to the house party.. Didn't know Tiger beer was so expensive \: didn't even drink any since I drove and decided to be good. Also finally got to try Koi bubble tea proper.. Don't think I'll buy it anymore. Still prefer the cheap stuff. Hehehe. Marginal increase in satisfaction doesn't justify the large jump in price--SGD 3.50, compared to my usual SGD 1.50 (max) fix.

After the opener ended, I retreated to the comfort of the air-conditioned room where the boys continued playing Winning Eleven and I watched random stuff like the old X-men cartoon and Top Gun. Damn, I think I've watched Top Gun too many times. It doesn't get any less cool though. Mmmm. Shit, why am I so influenced by my brother?? Can't imagine what I'd be like if I had an elder sister instead. Yeesh. Or what if I were the elder child??!? End of the world. Hahahaha.

Guess I'll try to sleep earlier today.. I failed yesterday because the raw episode came out just when I wanted to sleep (at like 4am).

The time now is 0323h.
