Another Sunny Day

It's been a while since I blogged. Somehow things didn't quite work out the way I imagined they would, but I honestly don't really mind how this year might pan out for me. Perhaps He means for me to go into banking - I know my brother will shout, "HOSEI AH!" when I tell him that I've been left with no choice but to take international banking, which, wait for it...... wait...... wait for it.............. covers portfolio management. HAHAHAHA. This makes my modules totally slanted. Virtually all my electives have something to do with banking or money.

Japanese class on Tuesday was... horrible. The teacher doesn't really speak much English, if at all. She struggled to explain things while we struggled to understand her. Didn't help that there was an annoying, loud person in class. Grr. I feel like switching class but I don't think it'll happen. Sigh.

Will also be juggling French this semester, albeit in school. I think it's going to be pretty tough. While I can understand a smattering of very basic French - by catching keywords - one look at the placement test totally reaffirmed my opinion that my grammar/vocabulary is non-existent. What would one expect from not paying attention in class over a decade ago? Haha.

Sent off half a dozen people on Wednesday, then felt really drained after that. I'm pretty much a loner/loser in school these days. But what's new? Mmm. Got a couple of new items - a watch, a bag, and a top - from my aunt who holidayed in Japan in December. Nothing edgy though, just basics. Suits plain ol' me just fine (:

Splurged a little on food today, because I was feeling low. The weather was lovely so I dined al fresco for lunch and dinner. Super breezy! On the way to lunch at La Petite Cuisine (where I had yummy, decently-portioned pork cutlet spaghetti for SGD 11.50) , I saw a closing down sale sign for a store selling clothing and home decor items. Decided to check it out on the return journey instead of getting ice-cream from Marble Slab (have yet to try it... maybe Monday :) for therapy.

Stepped into Inside Living by Ziegler and took in a 360 survey of the shop - the lady proprietor, bent over one of the shoe shelves, looked up quizzically at me. Glanced through the S-sized rack but found nothing nice.. Then, a seafoam green sleeve caught my eye on the medium rack. It was sweet and I was really attracted to the colour, but the labelled price was SGD 89. Then I flipped it over and it was..... SGD 5. Like, wow! That totally got my hopes up and so I continued browsing the entire rack then moved on to the shelf labelled XS, but found nothing to my liking or within budget. Oh well. Anyway, so I asked the proprietor whether she thought I could fit an M and she said the cutting was quite large - which was true of the clothes there.. I don't think I could fit an S - but she said I could try. Thankfully I still have a good eye and the shoulders fit perfectly, though the body was not fitted, which was alright by me (: the lady was quite surprised and exclaimed, "Wah, your shoulders quite big ah!" while touching the seam. Hahaha. So it came home with me.. I will wear it as soon as I get it washed - machine washable wool and viscose mix = really soft and thin fabric, but not sheer! (Of course I checked the label before bothering with anything else.) I think it was meant to be a top which skimmed the body, but I was thinking along the lines of wearing it as outerwear rather than a top when I bought it, though on second thought both are viable options. So pleased!

Hopefully the shopping luck remains because I have to conquer Bangkok next weekend despite the increasing inertia. Pretty reluctant to brave the crowds for clothes that I might not be interested in, and the only motivation is that I have been abstaining from shopping in Singapore - not exactly a monumental task; accomplished by just looking at the prices - and if I don't shop I'll have no new clothes. I am so so tempted by ASOS!!!! It's not cheap, but it's certainly reasonable. But real shopping will just have to wait. When, oh when can I go thrifting in the US? ): California in summer is shelved, though Europe should still be on. And I'm secretly hoping to go to the US at the end of the year... Sigh.

As an afterthought, perhaps I should e-mail my tutor to inform her that I'll be missing class. Hmmm.
