I will never understand the point of deadlines in Singapore. Firstly, recall the publication incident. Now, it's the research assistant position I applied for. Seriously. Even in the working world? If this were America--I know it isn't--then I could probably sue for unequal opportunities or something. Isn't the point of a deadline to consider all applications, provided they arrive by the stipulated time, equally? That is to say, not to pick on a first come basis unless expressly stated? My gripes: there's no urgency because it's not like work is starting as soon as possible; and the people may not be the best you can get, even if you deem them ok.
Pfft. Alright, I'm not actually really that pissed off but I sorely needed to get that off my chest. I guess I'm not going to get any pocket money this vacation ): good wake up call for stupid standard practices.
I JUST WANT A FAIR CHANCE, YO. Is it so difficult? So much for meritocracy and equality.
